The War on Ammo
Is the shutdown of the last US smelter part of a multi-pronged attack on
ammunition?

Most gun control advocates still cloak their true intentions behind opposition to “assault rifles”. But some are coming out of the closet, explicitly or tacitly admitting that their goal is a full ban on private arms. Gen McChrystal said in Jan 2013, “I think serious action is necessary. Sometimes we talk about very limited actions on the edges and I just don’t think that’s enough,” he said. Translation: we’ve been infringing on the Second Amendment, now we need to get serious and ban arms.
And as McChrystal worked the talk show circuit, he didn’t just talk about vaguely defined “assault rifles” but focused repeatedly on how the dangerous full metal bullets used by the military shouldn’t be in private hands. The reality is that while full metal jacket bullets may have better penetration of bulletproof jackets, hollow point bullets are designed to do far more damage to the human body. So much more damaging that hollow points are banned by Geneva Convention from use by the military against enemy combatants. Yet, hollow points are what governments use against their own citizens and what Homeland Security is hoarding by the billions.
REGULATORY RESTRICTIONS ON AMMUNITION
Gun control organizations are turning their attention to ammunition instead of specific guns. When we encountered the 4 or 5 protestors from “Moms Demand Action” in San Antonio, their organization’s national flyer called for
ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATION OF AMMUNITION
EPA efforts to remove lead pollution in paint have turned into a campaign to eradicate all traces of lead in everything. Fishing tackle, small tire weights for balancing, zippers in children’s clothes and, of course, lead bullets are in the crosshairs.
The Center for Biological Diversity has lobbied the EPA to regulate ammunition by including it in the Toxic Substances Control Act. While they failed in that effort, California has become the first state in the nation to outlaw lead in bullets for hunting. Gov Brown signed the law over the objections of California state game wardens.
And this week, Doe Run, the last and only ore to lead producer in the US closed rather than try to comply with EPA regulations. Over 20 years the company had been researching a wet chemical process and investing $30Million to replace smelting. The new process would have eliminated 99 percent of all current land, air and water pollution releases. But EPA’s regulatory uncertainty and estimated expense of $100 million to convert, caused the company to throw in the towel.
FED CREATED MARKET SHORTAGES AND PRICE INCREASES
Its not just ammunition that being regulated out of existence. American industry is being regulated out of existence and jobs are being exported. Lead will still be manufactured, but it will be manufactured in China and other countries with virtually no environmental oversight and the products will be scarce and expensive with fragile supply lines.
But lead is not the first component of ammunition that has been attacked in the Obama administration. Back in March of 2009, immediately after Obama took office, the DoD stopped selling spent brass to ammo manufacturers, a policy that would cause shortages and price increases of ammo. Both of Montana’s Senators, Max Baucus (D) and Jon Tester (D) wrote a letter to the Defense Logistics Agency reminding them that according to law, “demilitarizing or disposing of small arms ammunition is prohibited, unless the small arms ammunition is certified by the Secretary of the Army or designee as unserviceable or unsafe for further use. The intent of this law is to ensure once-fired small arms cartridge cases are made available intact in the open market.” Tester’s office said it was told by DoD that the brass destruction policy was reversed.
Yet we learned in Dec 2012, three years later, that according to their Solid Waste Management Plan, at least one Army Garrison, Fort Drum, NY was crushing spent brass into scrap, going to extra expense to reduce its value, sell it cheaply to China and keep it from being made available to the open market to create private ammo.
And while its uncertain whether other military installation besides Fort Drum are violating the law by keeping brass shells off the open market, InfoWars has covered numerous, massive purchases of ammunition by Homeland Security on the open market. Purchase orders for over 2 billion hollow point bullets have created market shortages and stoked demand from a public concerned about the implications of DHS’ actions.
There’s a multi-pronged attack on ammunition:
And after the domestic sources of ammunition dry up, the UN Arms Trade Treaty (UN-ATT) can be used to stop the importation of ammunition.
The gun control movement’s public agenda against “assault rifles” hasn’t been effective. But their war on ammunition by limiting access via regulation, manipulating the market and shutting down manufacturing, has been very effective. And if they succeed, it would be the same as a comprehensive ban on guns.

United Nations To Destroy Property Rights of Thousands Around Alamo
UNESCO won’t grant Alamo “World Heritage” status without property
restrictions in “buffer zone”

UPDATE: According to UNESCO’s 2013 Operational Guidelines for the Implementation of the World Heritage Convention, “potential danger” within the proposed 4,500+ acre “buffer zone” around the Alamo, including the “threat of armed conflict,” would jeopardize the mission’s “World Heritage” status, meaning that the City of San Antonio will likely use U.N. guidelines to ban future Second Amendment rallies near the Alamo, such as the successful Oct. 19 Come and Take It San Antonio rally which Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson helped organize.
In its official statement regarding the United Nations takeover of the Alamo, the Texas General Land Office did not address the restrictions that will be placed on private property surrounding the Alamo once it is named a UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site, even though the official nomination makes it clear that thousands of property owners will be affected.
The GLO’s press release published yesterday never mentioned the loss of property rights in the proposed 4,500+ acre “buffer zone” surrounding the Alamo, which places “complementary legal and/or customary restrictions” on private property within the vicinity of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
“Some folks might think that getting on this [UNESCO World Heritage] list means the U.N. has some sort of influence at the Alamo,” Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson said.
Those “folks” are correct according to the official Nomination for Inscription on the World Heritage List and UNESCO’s very own Operational Guidelines for the Implementation of the World Heritage Convention for 2013.
The official nomination states that a “buffer zone” will be created around the five San Antonio Franciscan Missions, including the Alamo:
But what exactly is a buffer zone?
The UNESCO 2013 Operational Guidelines gives the following definition:
In summary, if you own property within the 4,519.1 acre buffer zone surrounding the missions in San Antonio, including the Alamo, you will lose many of your property rights if these missions are designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
This has already occurred in the buffer zone surrounding Yellowstone National Park, as we previously reported.
In the early 1990s, multiple environmental organizations, which were members of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, petitioned the Clinton administration to declare Yellowstone a “World Heritage Site In Danger.”
At the administration’s request, the World Heritage Committee, in collaboration with IUCN, sent in a team of “experts” to evaluate the park.
That team ultimately declared Yellowstone to be “in danger.”
As a result, in accordance with the 1972 international treaty entitled Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, the Clinton administration restricted the use of private property within the buffer zone of Yellowstone National Park, calling it a “protective measure.”
A private mine several miles away from Yellowstone but within the buffer zone was shut down by the federal government on behalf of the U.N.
In the present, the City of San Antonio already rejected a proposed downtown hotel tower because it jeopardized the Alamo’s World Heritage status.
These are the types of situations property owners in San Antonio will encounter if they are within the buffer zone surrounding the Alamo and other missions.
While we applaud efforts to give more international recognition to these missions, the property rights of Texans should not be restricted in the process.
The Alamo in particular is already being preserved as a symbol of Texan and American heritage, so there is absolutely no need to shackle this shrine of liberty to an international treaty with UNESCO, which the Reagan administration referred to as having “a hostility toward the basic institutions of a free society, especially a free market and a free press.”
We urge Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson and the Texas General Land Office to protect the property rights of Texans as much as they protect the Alamo.

A buffer zone surrounds the nominated property following the boundaries set up in the various city ordinances, including Rio Overlay Districts 3-6, Mission Historic District, River South Management Area, and the Alamo Historic District. The buffer zone runs from Travis Street in the north to Camino Coahuilteca on the south, Presa Street on the east and Mission Road and Roosevelt Ave on the west. The total area of the buffer zone is 1,828.8 hectares (4,519.1 acres).
But what exactly is a buffer zone?
The UNESCO 2013 Operational Guidelines gives the following definition:
For the purposes of effective protection of the nominated property, a buffer zone is an area surrounding the nominated property which has complementary legal and/or customary restrictions placed on its use and development to give an added layer of protection to the property.
This should include the immediate setting of the nominated property, important views and other areas or attributes that are functionally important as a support to the property and its protection.
The area constituting the buffer zone should be determined in each case through appropriate mechanisms.
Details on the size, characteristics and authorized uses of a buffer zone, as well as a map indicating the precise boundaries of the property and its buffer zone, should be provided in the nomination.
In summary, if you own property within the 4,519.1 acre buffer zone surrounding the missions in San Antonio, including the Alamo, you will lose many of your property rights if these missions are designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Pro-Gun Sheriff Found Not Guilty
Jury nullifies false arrest of Nick Finch who supported Second Amendment

Nick Finch, the Florida sheriff arrested in June after he defended the Second Amendment, has been declared “not guilty” of the charges brought against him by the State of Florida, according to Richard Mack.
The Liberty Co. sheriff was charged with felony “official misconduct” and “falsifying public records” after he released a suspect arrested on an unconstitutional gun charge and removed the arrest file.
After closing arguments by prosecutors and the defense, the jury took less than 90 minutes to reach its verdict.
Finch said today on the Alex Jones Show that the judge and the prosecutors were “not surprised” over his acquittal.
“They knew that they had no case,” he said.
Finch is expected to return to his duties as sheriff.
During the trial, the sheriff testified that he released Floyd Eugene Parrish, who was arrested for unlawfully carrying a firearm, because he believed the Second Amendment trumped all state gun laws.
As we reported back in June, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement accused Finch of covering up the arrest of Floyd Eugene Parrish after releasing him from the Liberty County Jail.
On March 8, Sgt. James Joseph Hoagland of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office arrested Parrish during a traffic stop after finding a .25 automatic pistol in Parrish’s right front pocket and a holstered revolver in his car, according to court records.
Parrish was then taken to the county jail.
After being notified of Parrish’s arrest, Finch took the arrest file and told jailers that Parrish would be released with no charges, according to investigators.
Finch also ordered both the pistol and revolver be returned.
Hoagland told the FDLE that he spoke to Finch about Parrish’s release and Finch told him he “believed in Second Amendment rights.”

America stunned as Sebelius explains still no ‘reliable’ data on Obamacare enrollment numbers

Just how many Americans have enrolled through Healthcare.gov, the federal government’s online health insurance exchange?
Answer: We don’t know.
With today’s Internet and programming technology, finding out how many people have visited, signed up, answered a poll, etc., is child’s play. It’s nothing.
But even something as simple as this is beyond the scope of the federal government’s capability. And yet millions still have faith in President Obama and his administration, no matter how incompetent they are or how much they lie to them.
‘We don’t have reliable data on that question’
As reported by CNSNews:
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius may have some idea how many people have signed up for Obamacare so far, but she says the number is not “reliable” so the administration has decided not to make the information public.
Sebelius also told the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Wednesday that she expects the initial enrollment number to be small.
“We do not have any reliable data around enrollment, which is why we haven’t given it to date,” she said in response to a question from U.S. Rep. Lee Terry, Nebraska Republican.
That is simply incredible. To not have any idea how many people have signed up for insurance through the government portal is simply mind-boggling.
But of course, in typical doublespeak, Sebelius spun the government’s ignorance as a plus.
The HHS secretary testified that she met recently with insurers and that one of her “priority” fixes for the broken exchanges is the 834, the document that delivers an individual’s name to the insurance company for plan enrollment.
“I want to give you reliable, confirmed data from every state and from the federal marketplace. We have said that we will do that on a monthly basis, by the middle of the month. You will have that data, but I don’t want to turn over anything that is not confirmed and reliable, and that’s what we’ll do,” she said.
But that data exists, Terry pressed.
“But sir, I would tell you right now, it is not reliable data,” Sebelius said. “According to the insurance companies who are eager to have customers, they are not getting reliable data all the way through the system. It’s one of the real problems that we have.”
She did say that HHS knows 700,000 people so far have actually applied online.
Here’s how it works: Those shopping for insurance on the exchanges are required to fill out an application before actually enrolling in a plan. That means the application number is going to be different than the enrollment figure.
Sebelius also told the congressional panel there were lowered expectations for initial enrollees.
“I think there’s no question that given our flawed launch of healthcare.gov, it will be a very small number,” she said.
Varied, creative ways to say, ‘I don’t know’
Earlier in the day, Democratic Rep. Diana DeGette of Colorado told C-SPAN Radio, “The administration apparently has made a decision not to disclose the numbers of people who have actually enrolled, except for on a monthly basis. I don’t know why they’ve made that determination, but they’ve told us that as well.”
In testimony to the House Ways and Means Committee a day earlier, the head of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Marilyn Tavenner, was asked repeatedly how many people have enrolled. She couldn’t answer either.
“We will not have those numbers available until mid-November,” she kept saying, essentially, over and over again.
Tavenner also refused to say if she knows the enrollment number but is just not telling, CNSNews reported.
If you’re getting the picture that this system is essentially useless, you’re right. But since Obamacare ”is the law of the land,” as we are so often told, apparently we are stuck with it.
Oh, and here’s another bit of news. It likely will be December or longer before Healthcare.gov is fully functional.

China Moves Spy Ship to Hawaiian Waters in “Retaliation” Against U.S.
Unprecedented development showcases Beijing’s increasing military

China has sent a surveillance ship to Hawaiian waters for the very
first time in an unprecedented move which is being described as a provocative
retaliation to the U.S. naval presence in the East China Sea.
According to a report by GoldSea.com, a news outlet
aimed at Asian-Americans, a 4,000 ton People’s Liberation Army electronic
reconnaissance ship was recently spotted near Hawaii within the U.S.
200-nautical mile EEZ (Exclusive Economic Zone).
The report was also picked up by the Honolulu Star-Advertiser,
which ran an article entitled China
moves spy ship near isles, Asian media say.
The ship “is equipped with various electronic gear for
eavesdropping on radio communications and tracking ships and aircraft. It is
also believed to have jamming equipment to interfere with the radio
communications of other ships,” according to the report.
The development is unprecedented because China has never sent a
ship within the U.S. EEZ, although the U.S. has entered the Chinese EEZ on
numerous occasions for decades. It is not known whether the ship violated the
territorial waters of the United States, which extend to 12 nautical miles under
the 1982 UN convention on the Law of the Sea.
The fact that the ship got within 2,400 miles of San Francisco
represents “a potential for offensive actions against the US by the Chinese
military,” according to the report.
The development is apparently part of China’s growing military
confidence, which was also exemplified with the country’s recent
declassification of its nuclear-armed Xia-class submarine fleet, which according
to state media represents an “assassin’s mace that would make adversaries
tremble.”
China’s increasing aggressiveness in the East China Sea and its
challenge to Japanese control of the Senkaku Islands has sparked tensions,
with Japan
repeatedly scrambling fighter jets earlier this week in response to Chinese
military aircraft flying near Okinawa.
Back in September, China
also reportedly sent warships to the coast of Syria to “observe” the actions
of US and Russian vessels in the region.
“The recent deployment of a PLAN surveillance ship into Hawaiian
waters is seen as Beijing’s message to the US and the rest of the world that
China can now contest the waters of the western Pacific and that the US Navy no
longer has a free pass in the region. It is also seen as a form of retaliation
for what Beijing considers the provocative naval exercises the US recently
conducted in the Yellow Sea jointly with the navies of South Korea and Japan’s
Self-Defense Force,” states the report.

Xia-class submarine fleet below.
Obama’s Justice Department Argues Before Supremes: International Treaties Trump Constitution

Here’s one you’re not seeing covered by the establishment teleprompter readers.
The Justice Department is going before the Supreme Court and arguing that the Obama administration has the authority to trump the Constitution with international treaties.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz is stepping up to the plate to fight this globalist broadside.
“The Constitution created a limited federal government with only specific enumerated powers,” Cruz told the Washington Examiner. “The Supreme Court should not interpret the treaty power in a manner that undermines this bedrock protection of individual liberty.”
In a speech delivered to the Heritage Foundation, Cruz said the Justice Department’s arguments before the highest court represent “an absurd proposition” that “could be used as a backdoor way to undermine” Second Amendment and other constitutional rights the global elite are working overtime to eradicate.
The case at issue is Bond v. United States. It concerns a woman charged with violating an international ban on chemical weapons. She stands accused of harassing a onetime friend involved in an affair with her husband. The federal government is arguing that it may use the international law to prosecute the woman, thus violating basic structural guarantees that exceed Congress’ enumerated powers, according to Bond’s lawyers.
“If the administration is right, the treaty power could become a backdoor way for the federal government to do everything from abolishing the death penalty nationwide, to outlawing homeschooling, to dramatically curtailing the states’ rights to regulate abortion,” Carrie Severino of the Judicial Crisis Network told the Washington Examiner.

The Department of Homeland Security is increasing its preparations for domestic unrest by spending half a million dollars on fully automatic pepper spray launchers and projectiles that are designed to be used during riot control situations.
In an announcement of a no bid contract posted on the Federal
Business Opportunities website, the federal agency signals its intention to
purchase nearly 240,000 pepper spray projectiles, 100 pepper spray launchers, as
well as 36 “riot expansion kits”.
The PepperBall TAC-700 pepper spray launcher “features full auto,
semi-auto, or 3 round burst providing up to 700 rounds per minute,”according to the
company which will provide the DHS with the weapons. It is also “accurate to
60 feet with area saturation up to 150 feet.” The weapon is routinely used in riot control situations around the world.
According to a video demonstration, the TAC-700 has a “strong
psychological influence” on the people it is being used against because it is so
loud and sounds like an automatic machine gun.
Although the weapons are being purchased by Immigration and
Customs Enforcement, the document makes it clear that they will be used to train
Federal Protective Service (FPS) agents.
The total cost of the contract amounts to $498,970 dollars and
mandates that delivery of the weapons will be made within 60 days of the
award.
Although the contract states that the pepper spray projectiles
will be used for “training purposes,” 117,000 of them are inert compared to
120,000 “Live X Projectiles,” which are the most powerful projectiles
available on PepperBall’s
website, and are designed to be used during riot control situations.
The “riot expansion kits” being purchased by the DHS are holsters
that accompany the PepperBall products and can be used to store projectiles. According
to one website, they represent, “the perfect non-lethal crowd management
tool for gaining compliance over rioters, organized protesters, and unlawful
assemblies,” and can be used to, “Gain psychological advantage over unruly
crowds.”
The purchase of these items sends another clear signal that the
DHS is preparing for some form of civil disorder.
In
June it emerged that the DHS was purchasing top of the range body armor and
helmets for FPS guards as part of preparations for “riot control situations.”
This followed a controversial drill last year dubbed “Operation
Shield,” during which FPS agents armed with semiautomatic guns were posted
outside a Social Security office in Florida. The unannounced exercise centered
around “detecting the presence of unauthorized persons and potentially
disruptive or dangerous activities.” Residents were forced to show
identification papers to the guards during the drill.
Back in May, FPS guards were stationed
outside an IRS building in St. Louis during a Tea Party demonstration, and
the DHS has also used its sub-branch to spy
on protesters.
As
we reported last week, Homeland Security is spending $80 million dollars on
hiring armed guards in New York to be used during “public demonstration(s),” as
well as “civil disturbances, or other unanticipated events on an as-needed
basis.”
Fox News host Neil
Cavuto speculated that the guards could be linked to cuts in food stamp
benefits set to take effect on November 1st.

Portland Tugboat has posted a photo of another
Google mystery barge on their Facebook page.
On October 27, CNET reported that a similar barge
was docked in the San Francisco Bay. “Is it a floating Google data center? A
floating Google Glass store? Or something else altogether?” asked Daniel Terdiman, writing for the tech media website. The barge
is docked at a former U.S. Navy station on Treasure Island.
On October 26, Tom Bell, writing for the Portland Press Herald, reported “a
four-story windowless building” docked in the Portland Harbor. “Its purpose and
its owner’s identity have been kept secret.”
Despite a cover story that the barge was some sort
of promotional gimmick for Google Glass, the wearable computer with an optical
head-mounted display, a Google patent for a water-based data center filed in 2007
reveals a different agenda. The patent was granted in 2009.
Google is linked to the
CIA and the national security state through the CIA’s technology research
division, In-Q-Tel. In 2005, Google acquired
the CIA funded satellite mapping software subsequently named Google
Earth.
NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden said in August that Google and other technology
corporations received millions of dollars from the NSA for their compliance with
PRISM, a secret mass electronic surveillance data mining program.
Fred Burton, vice president of Stratfor and a former senior
State Department official, described Google as “doing things the CIA cannot do,”
according to documents acquired by Wikileaks.
In 2010, Noah Shachtman, writing for Wired, reported that Google had
teamed up with the CIA to back a company that developed technology to monitor
the web in real time.
“The company is called Recorded Future, and it
scours tens of thousands of websites, blogs and Twitter accounts to find the
relationships between people, organizations, actions and incidents,” writes
Shachtman. “The idea is to figure out for each incident who was involved, where
it happened and when it might go down.”
When The Fed Tightens, Bad Stuff Happens

BNP’s Paul Mortimer-Lee knocks it out of the park today with not one, not two, but pretty much all quotes in his latest note, “The Fed and QE: Hotel California?” A random sampling thereof (full note shortly).
From BNP
…
Our overall assessment is that when the Fed decides to ‘taper’, there will be an adverse effect on markets. Bonds will suffer from a higher term premium and an upward revision of expectations about future levels of Fed funds. Equities are likely to suffer, too. How big the selloffs will be will depend on the circumstances – how robust the recovery looks, to what extent inflation remains quiescent and to what extent the current period of maintained QE leads to excess valuations in markets. Those markets that sold off most during the ‘taper tantrum’ tended to be those markets that had rallied most in previous months.
Clearly, this is one of the disadvantages of QE – one of its purposes is to distort markets. When QE ends, those distortions begin to unwind. Because of the disequilibria in financial markets under QE, relative valuations, as well as valuations of the risk-free asset, are distorted. Markets may go through considerable gyrations as they try to find the “right” constellation of equilibrium prices. It is possible that sufficiently vigorous reactions could adversely affect the economy.
It may be difficult to foresee all the effects of ending QE. After all, except with relatively brief breaks, the Fed has been using its balance sheet to stimulate the economy since 2009. Markets and the economy have gotten used to it. Will there be unexpected effects when QE ends? Seems like a good bet. What they will be is more difficult to say.

– History tells us that when the Fed tightens, bad stuff happens. The bond sell-off this summer on the mere announcement of QE ‘tapering’ is a case in point.
– Bonds will suffer when actual ‘tapering’ is announced. When it starts, we are likely to trade through the previous high for yields.
– Equities may look fairly immune at first, but as QE buying fades and eventually stops, take care. Any equity sell-off will have a knock-on effect on bonds and the economy.
– How large the effect on the markets will be will depend on how much the markets rally while QE is ‘on’. The bigger the rally, the worse the sell-off will be.

Look Out Below: Home Sales Plunge: “Biggest Drop in 40 Months”
Mac Slavo
SHTFplan.com
October 29, 2013
Last week the Sacramento Bee published a report indicating the foreclosure rates had returned to “normal” levels and that the, “foreclosure crisis that overwhelmed the greater Sacramento area for the past seven years has ended.” The Sacramento, California area was one of the hardest hit by the recession and foreclosures, with average home price declines reaching 50% in some areas.
If foreclosure rates were dropping, suggested analysts, it means that home sales must be rising again.
Except they didn’t.
According to a report from the National Association of Realtors home sales plunged significantly in the month of September. So much so that it is the single largest drop in signed home sales in 40 months.
There are a variety of factors that may be at play here. Officially, the NAR reports that the drop in sales is a result of higher mortgage rates and the government shutdown.
Of course, the shutdown didn’t happened until the month after the drop, so there’s that.
Rising mortgage rates certainly play a role, and those rates only declined to begin with because of massive Fed monetary intervention.
In fact, the Federal Reserve has made so much money available, that many economists believe the debt party is back.
We are very closely approaching 2007 levels of personal and business debt. Likewise, we’re reaching new highs on stock market exchanges and home prices seemed to be recovering to boot.
But the real question is… how can we possibly be in a recovery when millions of Americans remain unemployed and underpaid?
How is it possible that home prices were rising and sales increasing while a record 107 million Americans received government distributions?
How can we be out of a recession when nearly 50 million Americans – fully 23 million households, or about 20% – are dependent on food stamps?
The answer is simple.
The entire economy is now a complete sham.
The CPI economic growth index indicates our economy is growing at a rate of about 2.5%. Simultaneously, however, the official rate of inflation is 2.5% (nearly 6% if welook at the real numbers). What this means is that not only is the economy not growing, we are actually in a growth decline of at least 3%.
By economists’ definition, a recession is a period of time in which we experience negative economic growth for two quarters. Given we’ve seen a real decline in economic growth for at least the last five years, does anyone still believe we’re out of the recession?
Or is it possible that we are in a greater depression that continues to chip away at Americans’ wealth?
When experts say we’re out of the recession because the economy is growing, it’s important to understand that the purported “growth” is simply inflation making it’s way into the system.
It’s the very same reason for why stock markets have once again reached record highs (none of these company’s earnings justify their outrageous stock prices!), and why home prices didn’t continue to collapse.
They injected the system, literally, with trillions of dollars to keep prices afloat and avoid a deflationary depression.
The consequence, however, will be continued inflation – likely hyperinflation – in years to come.
The only other option is to scale back the Fed’s monetary expansion – in which case we see a complete collapse in prices.
The bottom line is that all roads to true recovery will be extremely painful.

The National Association of Realtors said Monday that its seasonally adjusted pending home sales index dropped 5.6 percent last month from August to a reading of 101.6. That also pushed the index below its year-ago level, the first time that’s happened in nearly 2 ½ years.
There is generally a one- to two-month lag between a signed contract and a completed sale. The drop suggests final sales will decline in the coming months.

…
The pending home sales data collapsed in September (and remember this is before the shutdown and was heralded at the time as buyers rushing to buy before the risk of the shutdown slowed acceptances). Affordability, argued by some serial extrapolators as still being ‘relatively’ positive – has drastically weighed on housing at the margin just as we argued previously. This is the first annual drop in 29 months, the biggest drop in 40 months, and the biggest miss against expectations in 40 months.

Food Bank CEO Suggests Welfare Cuts May Spark Riots

food”

The CEO of the largest food bank in America has suggested that
planned cuts in food stamp benefits set to take effect on Friday could spark
riots.
Margarette Purvis, the president and CEO of the Food Bank for New
York City, told
Salon.com that the expiration of stimulus funds, which will see the
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program reduced by $5 billion dollars, will
have an “immediate impact” and represent a recipe for civil unrest.
“If you look across the world, riots always begin typically the
same way: when people cannot afford to eat food,” said Purvis, adding that
families face the “daunting” prospect of losing a whole week’s worth of food
every month.
The nationwide cut will take 76 million meals off the table of
poverty-stricken New Yorkers alone, equating to about 16 meals a month for a
family of three. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities has labeled the cut
to the SNAP program “unprecedented” in “depth and breadth.”
As we previously highlighted, even the mainstream media is
invoking the threat of riots that could ensue as a result of the food stamp cut,
with Fox
News’ Neil Cavuto linking the issue to the Department of Homeland Security’s
recent $80 million dollar outlay on armed guards to protect government buildings
in upstate New York.
“November 1st could be a very very iffy kind of a day….this could
be all hell breaks loose day,” warned Cavuto.
His concerns are not without foundation given that a glitch in the
system which temporarily halted EBT purchases for just a few hours earlier this
month led to looting
and mini-riots at several Walmart stores.
Reacting to the downtime, food
stamp recipients warned that if the glitch was to re-occur it would lead to
Rodney King-style riots, a reference to the 1992 L.A. riots which resulted in 53
deaths, 2,000 injuries and over $1 billion dollars in property damages.

HealthCare.gov: Crony Capitalism on Steroids
Failed website builder and Michelle Obama classmate slapped together
mega-failure known as HealthCare.gov

Glenn Harlan Reynolds, writing for USA Today, asks why the federal government was capable of
putting a man on the moon but unable to put up a functioning website.
“The 1960s space program, of course, is a classic
example of big government doing something successfully: Promising to put men on
the moon within a decade, and doing it,” writes Reynolds, who edits the
Instapundit blog.
He mentions the Norris Dam, the first dam built by
the Tennessee Valley Authority, as another admirable example of big government
doing something that actually works.
Reynolds then enumerates the failures of big
government, including the War On Poverty, the War On Drugs, the War On Cancer,
all “pretty much failures, sometimes disastrous ones.”
He writes that “it remains indisputable that the
federal government isn’t very good at delivering on big projects. The obvious
response is to not entrust the federal government with big projects on which it
can’t deliver. Instead, they should be left to those who can.”
As it turns out, however, the Obamacare website
was built by a private sector company, CGI Federal.
The vice president of the company is Toni
Townes-Whitley, a Princeton classmate of first lady Michelle Obama. It is
hardly surprising to learn that Townes-Whitley is a former big government
employee. She worked for the General Accounting Office and the Peace Corps.
Moreover, the president of the Canadian-based
company, George Schindler, became an Obama 2012 campaign donor after his company
gained the Obamacare website contract, according to The Daily Caller.
“As reported by the Washington Examiner in early
October, the Department of Health and Human Services reviewed only CGI’s bid for
the Obamacare account,” writes Patrick Howley.
“CGI was one of 16 companies qualified under the
Bush administration to provide certain tech services to the federal government.
A senior vice president for the company testified this week before The House
Committee on Energy and Commerce that four companies submitted bids, but did not
name those companies or explain why only CGI’s bid was considered.”
Adding more grist to this textbook example of
crony capitalism, it was discovered the contract was lorded over by the Centers
for Medicare and Medicaid Services, a division Kathleen Sebelius’ Department of
Health and Human Services.
It turns out Ms. Sebelius is also a failed website
builder.
As the governor of Kansas, “Sebelius oversaw
numerous costly and disastrous government website projects during her six-year
governorship (2003-2009), including a failed update of the Department of Labor’s
program to provide unemployment pay and other services and similar updates
pertaining to the Department of Administration and the state’s Department of
Motor Vehicles (DMV) services,” Howley wrote earlier this month.
The Obama administration’s failure to build a
website is not necessarily an example of large and redundant government unable
to perform tasks better accomplished by companies in the private sector. It is
more accurately an example of crony capitalism and government-enforced
monopolistic business practices that cost Americans billions of dollars every
year.
Instead of focusing on the monopolistic aspect of
the failed project, Democrats in Congress are sidestepping the issue and calling
for more government failure.
“Right now everybody’s goal should be, let’s get
this working. Let’s make sure that people can get the health care they want and
need,” said New Hampshire Democrat Sen. Jeanne Shaheen. She said it is too early to assign blame
for the disaster.
Republicans are calling for Sebelius to be sacked,
but it is uncertain if the bureaucrat will lose her job.
Meanwhile, the Obama administration has dispatched
the “weed whacker,” Jeff Zients, to fix the smoldering wreck that is
HealthCare.gov.
Zients, a onetime federal budget official and
deputy director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, is a former
member of the board of directors of XM Satellite Radio. He also served on the
boards of Revolution Health Group, Best Practices and Timbuk2 Designs.
“Let me be clear — HealthCare.gov is fixable,” he told reporters on a conference call set-up by the Centers
for Medicare and Medicaid Services last week.
The question that will undoubtedly be shuffled off
to the memory hole will of course remain unaddressed: why was the project headed
up by the demonstrable failure Sebelius and parceled out in what was essentially
a no-bid contract to a former classmate of the president’s wife?
29 Incredible Facts Which Prove That Poverty In America Is Absolutely Exploding
Michael Snyder
Economic Collapse
October 28, 2013
Did you know that the number of Americans on welfare is higher than the number of Americans that have full-time jobs? Did you know that 1.2 million public school students in the U.S. are currently homeless? Anyone that uses the term “economic recovery” to describe what is happening in the United States today is being deeply insulting to the nearly 150 million Americans that are considered to be either “poor” or “low income” at this point.
Yes, things are great in New York City, Washington D.C. and San Francisco, but almost everywhere else economic conditions continue to steadily get worse. The gap between the wealthy and the poor is at a level that America has never seen before, and this is beginning to create a “Robin Hood mentality” that could cause a tremendous amount of social chaos in the years ahead. Anger at the “haves” in America continues to rise at a very alarming pace, and the “have nots” are becoming increasingly desperate. At some point all of this anger is going to boil over, and you won’t want to be anywhere around major population centers when that happens. Despite unprecedented borrowing by the federal government in recent years, and despite unprecedented money printing by the Federal Reserve, poverty in the United States keeps getting worse with each passing year. The following are 29 incredible facts which prove that poverty in America is absolutely exploding…
1. What can you say about a nation that has more people getting handouts from the federal government than working full-time? According to the latest numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau, the number of people receiving means-tested welfare benefits is greater than the number of full-time workers in the United States.
2. New numbers have just been released, and they show that the number of public school students in this country that are homeless is at an all-time record high. It is hard to believe, but right now 1.2 million students that attend public schools in America are homeless. That number has risen by 72 percent since the start of the last recession.
3. When I was growing up, it seemed like almost everyone was from a middle class home. But now that has all changed. One recent study discovered that nearly half of all public students in the United States come from low income homes.
4. How can anyone deny that we are a socialist nation when half the people are getting money from the federal government each month? According to the most recent numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau, 49.2 percent of all Americans are receiving benefits from at least one government program.
5. Signs of increasing poverty are even showing up in the wealthiest areas of the nation. According to the New York Post, New York subways are being “overrun with homeless“.
6. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, approximately one out of every six Americans is now living in poverty. The number of Americans living in poverty is now at a level not seen since the 1960s.
7. The gap between the rich and the poor in the United States is at an all-time record high. The wealthy may not consider this to be much of a problem, but those at the other end of the spectrum are very awareof this.
8. The “working poor” is one of the fastest growing segments of the U.S. population. At this point, approximately one out of every four part-time workers in America is living below the poverty line.
9. According to numbers provided by Wal-Mart, more than half of their hourly workers make less than $25,000 a year.
10. A recent Businessweek article mentioned a study that discovered that 300 employees at one Wal-Mart in Wisconsin receive a combined total of nearly a million dollars a year in public assistance…
11. The stock market may be doing great (for the moment), but incomes for average Americans continue to decline. In fact, median household income in the United States has fallen for five years in a row.
12. The quality of the jobs in America has been steadily dropping for years. At this point, one out of every four American workers has a job that pays $10 an hour or less.
13. According to a Gallup poll that was recently released, 20.0% of all Americans did not have enough money to buy food that they or their families needed at some point over the past year. That is just under the record of 20.4% that was set back in November 2008.
14. Young adults are particularly feeling the sting of poverty these days. American families that have a head of household that is under the age of 30 have a poverty rate of 37 percent.
15. As I wrote about a few weeks ago, one out of every five households in the United States is on food stamps. Back in the 1970s, about one out of every 50 Americans was on food stamps.
16. The number of Americans on food stamps now exceeds the entire population of Spain.
17. According to one calculation, the number of Americans on food stamps now exceeds the combined populations of “Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.”
18. We are told that we live in the “wealthiest nation” on the planet, and yet more than one out of every four children in the United States is enrolled in the food stamp program.
19. The average food stamp benefit breaks down to approximately $4 per person per day.
20. It is being projected that approximately 50 percent of all U.S. children will be on food stamps before they reach the age of 18.
21. Today, approximately 17 million children in the United States are facing food insecurity. In other words, that means that “one in four children in the country is living without consistent access to enough nutritious food to live a healthy life.”
22. It may be hard to believe, but approximately 57 percent of all children in the United States are currently living in homes that are considered to be either “low income” or impoverished.
23. The number of children living on $2.00 a day or less in the United States has grown to 2.8 million. That number has increased by 130 percent since 1996.
24. In Miami, 45 percent of all children are living in poverty.
25. In Cleveland, more than 50 percent of all children are living in poverty.
26. According to a recently released report, 60 percent of all children in the city of Detroit are living in poverty.
27. According to a Feeding America hunger study, more than 37 million Americans are now being served by food pantries and soup kitchens.
28. The U.S. government has spent an astounding 3.7 trillion dollarson welfare programs over the past five years.
29. It has been reported that 4 out of every 5 adults in the United States “struggle with joblessness, near-poverty or reliance on welfare for at least parts of their lives”.
These poverty numbers keep getting worse year after year no matter what our politicians do.
So is there anyone out there that would still like to argue that we are in an “economic recovery”?
And as I mentioned above, the “have nots” are becoming increasingly angry at the “haves”. For example, just check out the following excerpt from a recent New York Post article…
Sadly, this was not an isolated incident. All over the western world, a “Robin Hood mentality” is growing. This is something that I am so concerned about that I made it a big part of my new book. At this point, even wealthy Hollywood-types such as actor Russell Brand are calling for a socialist-style “revolution” and a “massive redistribution of wealth“.
Perhaps Brand does not understand that what he is calling for would mean redistributing most of his own wealth away from him.
When the next major wave of the economic collapse strikes, I fear that all of this anger and frustration that are growing among the poor will boil over in some very frightening ways. I believe that we will see a huge spike in crime and that we will eventually see communities all over America looted and burning.
But I am not the only one that is thinking along these lines. A new National Geographic Channel movie entitled “American Blackout” attempts to portray the social chaos that could erupt in the event of an extended national power failure…
You can view a clip of the film that was made available by NatGeo for the SHTFplan.com community right here.
What would you do if something like that happened to you?
How would you handle desperate, hungry people at your fence asking for food?
And what if those people were armed and were not “asking nicely” for your food?
Don’t ignore what is happening in America right now. It is setting the stage for some very chaotic times.
Get ready while you still can.
“A decent wage is their demand—a livable wage, of all things,” said Representative George Miller (D-Calif.). The problem with companies like Wal-Mart is their “unwillingness, not their inability, to pay that wage,” he said. “They hand off the difference to taxpayers.” Miller was referring to a congressional report (PDF) released in May that calculated how much Walmart workers rely on public assistance. The study found that the 300 employees at one Supercenter in Wisconsin required some $900,000 worth of public assistance a year.
The maniac who butchered a Brooklyn mom and her four young kids confessed that he did it because he was jealous of their way of life, a police source told The Post on Sunday.
“The family had too much. Their income (and) lifestyle was better than his,” the source said.
The bloody suspect was caught holding the kitchen knife he used during the Saturday night rampage inside the Sunset Park apartment where he had been staying with the victims, the source added.

But I am not the only one that is thinking along these lines. A new National Geographic Channel movie entitled “American Blackout” attempts to portray the social chaos that could erupt in the event of an extended national power failure…
American Blackout, National Geographic Channel’s two-hour, edge-of-your-seat movie event imagines the story of a national power failure in the United States caused by a cyberattack — told in real time, over 10 days, by those who kept filming on cameras and phones. You’ll learn what it means to be absolutely powerless.

California Cops Impose Police State Following Shooting
Kurt Nimmo

If a cop or some other official of the government gets shot in your neighborhood, expect the imposition of a police state and the termination of the Bill of Rights. That’s what happened in Roseville, California, on Friday night following a shootout between a parolee and law enforcement.
Because an officer was shot in the jaw, a fed immigration agent was shot in the leg, and other cops were lightly injured residents of the neighborhood were not allowed to return to their homes for more than 24 hours. They had to endure checkpoints and orders to evacuate their homes.
An AP article on the incident concentrates on the danger posed by the man wanted for parole violation and says nothing about the danger of cops engaged in a vendetta. Cops routinely shoot and kill people when they perceive a threat, even kids with toy guns and small dogs, and they are especially violent when one of their own is killed or wounded.
“The incident created scenes of panic and chaos in a typically quiet middle class suburb of about 120,000 that is 20 miles northeast of the state capitol,” the AP reports. “At least 15 homes were evacuated, and the area remained a crime scene late Saturday.”
An armed criminal certainly poses a danger, but so do “helicopters… circling overhead and armored vehicles and other police cars” converging on the area with irate cops on a mission to take down a man who shot members of one of the largest and most organized, heavily armed (some cops even get Pentagon cast offs) and dangerous gangs in the state.
This AP photo of a cop threatening a motorist with a weapon at a checkpoint says it all.

Russell Brand May Have Started a Revolution Last Night
The revolution itself may not be televised, but on last night's edition of the BBC's Newsnight, viewers may have witnessed the start of one.
Actor-slash-comedian-slash-Messiah Russell Brand, in his capacity as guest editor of the New Statesman's just-published revolution-themed issue, was invited to explain to Jeremy Paxman why anyone should listen to a man who has never voted in his life.
"I don't get my authority from this preexisting paradigm which is quite narrow and only serves a few people," Russell responded. "I look elsewhere for alternatives that might be of service to humanity."
And with that, the first shots of Russell's revolutionary interview were fired.
Over the course of the following ten-or-so minutes, Brand and Paxo volleyed back and forth over subjects ranging from political apathy, to corporate greed, to gorgeous beards.
Throughout the interview, Brand repeatedly dodged Paxman's efforts to trivialize his message — at one point Paxman literally called Brand a "very trivial man" — until finally, even the entrenched newsman appeared to relent against the rushing tide of Brand's valid arguments.
After Brand reminded Paxman that he cried after learning that his grandma too had been "fucked over" by aristocrats, the Newsnight host was stunned into silence.
"If we can engage that feeling and change things, why wouldn't we?" Brand crescendoed. "Why is that naive? Why is that not my right because I'm an 'actor'? I've taken the right. I don't need the right from you. I don't need the right from anybody. I'm taking it."
Legal Glitch “Has The Potential To Sink Obamacare”

October 27, 2013
As if the technological problems facing Obamacare were not enough, a potentially major “legal glitch” could cause the healthcare law to unravel in 36 states. As the LA Times reports, The Affordable Care Act proposes to make health insurance affordable to millions of low-income Americans by offering them tax credits to help cover the cost. To receive the credit, the law twice says they must buy insurance “through an exchange established by the state.” But 36 states have decided against opening exchanges for now. Critics of the law have seized on the glitch. They have filed four lawsuits that urge judges to rule the Obama administration must abide by the strict wording of the law, even if doing so dismantles it in nearly two-thirds of the states. And the Obama administration has no hope of repairing the glitch by legislation as long as the Republicans control the House…“This has the potential to sink Obamacare. It could make the current website problems seem minor by comparison,” noted on policy expert.

…President Obama’s healthcare law also has a legal glitch that critics say could cause it to unravel in more than half the nation.
…
Apparently no one noticed this when the long and complicated bill worked its way through the House and Senate. Last year, however, the Internal Revenue Service tried to remedy it by putting out a regulation that redefined “exchange” to include a “federally facilitated exchange.” This is “consistent with the language, purpose and structure … of the act as a whole,” the Treasury Department said.
…

…
“This is a problem,” said Timothy Jost, a law professor at Washington and Lee University. “This case could have legs,” although “it was never the intent of Congress to establish federal exchanges that can’t do anything. They were supposed to have exactly the same powers.”

Leaked Video: FEMA Preparing Military Police For Gun Confiscations and Martial Law
MP told Constitution may be suspended by DHS

Infowars has confirmed the identity and authenticity of the source of the video below as a member of the U.S. Army military police in Arizona.
The video, shot in September 2013, shows an army commander briefing the MPs on their new command structure under the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Homeland Security for domestic operations with the National Guard.
The MP began recording the exchange after being shocked to hear that they were now under FEMA control.
In this video you can clearly hear the commander discuss the suspension of the Constitution for martial law and gun confiscations in America.
In essence, the military police is to provide security for FEMA while the agency confiscates our guns during a government-declared domestic crisis.
“They did that in Katrina, right,” the commander said. “They just go on and take away people’s guns.”
This is yet another piece of the larger pattern of demonization of gun owners, libertarians, conservatives, Christians and anyone who will not bow down to enslavement by a hijacked government occupied by ruthless tyrants who desire only total control.

Rand Paul Moves to Stall Appointment of Federal Reserve Insider
Kurt Nimmo
Infowars.com
October 25, 2013
Kentucky Republican Rand Paul is threatening to derail the appointment of Keynesian economist Janet Yellen as boss of the Federal Reserve unless he gets a vote on transparency legislation over the bankster non-government agency.
“One of my first actions in the U.S. Senate was to introduce legislation allowing for a full audit of the Federal Reserve,” Paul writes on his website. “This legislation, S. 202 The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2011, is a Senate version of similar legislation long-championed by and introduced this session in the House of Representatives by my father, Congressman Ron Paul of Texas.”
“We must take a critical look at the Fed’s monetary policy decisions, discount window operations, and a host of other things, with a real audit – and not just pay lip-service to the idea of an audit.”
The move is similar to Rand Paul’s effort to impose a procedural hold on the nomination of John Brennan to oversee the CIA back in February. Paul held up the vote in order to get answers about the snoop agency’s drone program. Paul engaged in a historic filibuster to hold up Brennan’s nomination.
Establishment Democrats in the Senate will likely move to sideline Paul’s effort to waylay “Helicopter” Ben Bernanke’s successor. It now looks like Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat, has the 60 votes required to push Yellen’s nomination through Congress.
Democrats say they don’t believe Rand Paul has enough support to hold up the nomination. “I don’t know enough yet to know whether his request for a vote will be taken seriously, but I kind of doubt it,” a Senate Democratic aide told Business Insider on Friday.

Census Bureau: Welfare Recipients Outnumber Full-Time Workers

CNS News
October 25, 2013
Welfare recipients in the United States outnumbered year-round full-time workers in 2011, according to data released this month by the Census Bureau.
They also out-numbered the total population of the Philippines and approached the population of Mexico.
There were 108,592,000 people in the United States in the fourth quarter of 2011 who were recipients of one or more means-tested government benefit programs, the Census Bureau said in data released this week. Meanwhile, according to the Census Bureau, there were only 101,716,000 people who worked full-time year round in 2011. That included both private-sector and government workers.

Dept. of Education Builds Up Massive Arsenal Of Firearms
Education Department has spent over $100K in handguns and shotguns
Kit Daniels
Infowars.com
October 24, 2013
Since at least 2001, the U.S. Department of Education has been building a massive arsenal of guns purchased through steep discounts orchestrated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the U.S. Capitol Police.
The Education Department’s Office of the Inspector General somehow found it necessary to spend over $80,000 on Glock pistols and over $17,000 on Remington shotguns in the past seven years for investigations into “fraud, waste or abuse of Department of Education funds.”
In July alone, the OIG purchased 30 Glock 27s for a total of $10,800, according to documents released by Muckrock.
Overall, the Dept. of Education is estimated to have over 200 handguns and at least 27 shotguns.
The shotguns even came with Wilson Combat Sights.
“I believe the requested firearms and parts are essential for the safe, effective and efficient operations of [OIG] Investigation Services,” Mary Mitchelson, the former Dept. of Education Inspector General, wrote in a February 2010 memo.
Prior to receiving a firearm, Dept. of Education OIG special agents must complete a training course conducted by the Department of Homeland Security.
In one memo in particular, the OIG requested “10 additional Glock 27 pistols” due to an “increase in hiring.”
Ironically, the Education Dept. is not the only federal agency expanding its firepower outside of the Dept. of Justice.
Back in July, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration bought 72,000 rounds of .40 Smith & Wesson.
The year before, the National Weather Service made a solicitation for 46,000 rounds of .40 caliber jacketed hollow point ammunition.
Also in 2012, the Social Security Administration purchased 174,000 rounds of 125 grain .357 SIG hollow point ammunition to be delivered to 41 locations across America.
SIG Sauer developed the .357 SIG to be the equivalent of the powerful 125 grain .357 Magnum load in common use by lawmen throughout most of the Cold War.
The Department of Homeland Security bought so much ammo last year that it even began censoring the quantity of rounds the agency sought in its solicitations posted on the FedBizOpps web site.
It has been estimated that DHS stockpiled at least two billion rounds of ammunition, enough to sustain the war in Iraq for 24 years.
While the Dept. of Education continues to purchase guns at ease with a steep discount, law-abiding Americans on the other hand are struggling to even find firearms at retail prices in gun stores across America.

Obama wants Marines to wear ‘girly’ hats
Jeane Macintosh
New York Post
October 24, 2013
A change to the Marine Corps’ uniform hats could take the hard-nosed Leathernecks from the Halls of Montezuma to the shops of Christopher Street.
Thanks to a plan by President Obama to create a “unisex” look for the Corps, officials are on the verge of swapping out the Marines’ iconic caps – known as “covers” — with a new version that some have derided as so “girly” that they would make the French blush.
