German intelligence sources suggest that last month’s alleged chemical
weapons attack in Damascus was not ordered by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad,
Bild am Sonntag has reported.
Forces loyal to President Assad had been asking him for four months to use
chemical weapons against the rebels, but they still received no approval from
the Syrian leader.
